New residents in Central Zoo

February 1, 2026

Residents in the Central Zoo in Pyongyang are on the increase.

This year alone five species of gift animals produced more than ten babies.

A hunting dog, a gift animal sent by the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un on December 24 2018, gave birth to two babies.

Papio hamadryas which have been living in the zoo for decades also reproduced.

As keepers have made devoted efforts to provide animals with appropriate living environment and good nutrition while taking scientific anti-epizootic steps, other gift animals like Selenarctos thibetanus produced healthy younglings.
