The Pyongyang Maternity Hospital and the Breast Tumour Institute of it stand side by side in its compound in the Munsu area of the capital city of Pyongyang.

More than 40 years have passed since the inauguration of the hospital specializing in delivery assistance, treatment of women’s diseases and various special medical services for women.

During the period, many women have given birth to their babies and recovered their health under best medical care.

That is why Korean women call the hospital their parents’ home and palace for babies.

“The Pyongyang Maternity Hospital and the Breast Tumour Institute of the hospital are the gift presented to our women by the country. True to the intention of President Kim Il Sung, Chairman Kim Jong Il made sure the hospital was built at the top level in every aspect from medical equipment to service,” said Kye Chun Yong, directress of the hospital.

The employees of the hospital are devoted to delivery assistance and treatment of patients in order to make them enjoy every state medical benefit intact.

In particular, expectant mothers of triplets and quadruplets are brought to the hospital no matter where they live and put under the special health care of doctors in charge until they leave the hospital after childbirth.

Triplets grow in incubators after birth before leaving the hospital, and the period is 100 days in general.

In the period, each child is looked after by a doctor and three nurses.

According to department chief Ji Mi Gyong, the 538th triplets were born recently.

During their stay, all the pregnant women and nursing mothers are provided free by the state with honey and other nutritious foods good for recovery and even supplies for babies.

The Breast Tumour Institute is an institution for women built under the meticulous guidance and care of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.

Inaugurated in November 2012, it is furnished with top-rate medical facilities including a multi-purpose X-ray machine and latest CT monopolized by a few developed countries. Large numbers of women from across the country received treatment and recovered their health at the institute.

Its medical workers are called “guardians of happiness of families” as they have successfully cured and operated many cases with different mammary diseases by dint of sincere devotion and high practical abilities.

A woman residing in Chollima District of Nampho who was hospitalized there twice for the treatment of invasive ductal carcinoma expressed her deep gratitude towards the country, saying that she recovered her health from a severe disease at the institute and could have a better understanding of how big the benefits of the free medical care system are.
