What is essential for the development of a state is national self-dependence and its own strength. It is like a suicidal act of digging its own grave to try to depend on others by pinning its hope on them.

Self-dependence is the life and soul of the Korean people and the fundamental cornerstone of the Korean revolution.

Whenever they faced manifold difficulties and trials in the revolution and construction, they firmly believed in their own strength and powerfully accelerated the building of a thriving nation, fully displaying the true merit and spirit of the Koreans.

If they had chosen the mode of depending on others without displaying the spirit of self-dependence and the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance, they might have failed to build a socialist state which is independent in politics, self-supporting in the economy and self-reliant in defence.
