National meeting commemorates 116th March 8 Int'l Women's Day

A national meeting took place at the People's Palace of Culture in Pyongyang on March 18, the 116th International Women's Day.

Present there were Ri Il Hwan, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau and secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Ju Chang Il, secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK, Kim Su Gil, chief secretary of the Pyongyang Municipal Committee of the WPK, Jon Hyang Sun, chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Socialist Women's Union of Korea (SWUK), officials of the Central Committee of the SWUK and exemplary women officials, women labour innovators and women's union members in Pyongyang.

Women of foreign diplomatic missions in the country attended the meeting.

A commemorative report was made by Ju Chang Il.

The reporter extended warm congratulations to the women across the country who are adding vitality to the Korean-style socialist cause.

He also extended the greeting of deep friendship and solidarity to all the overseas Korean women, who are devoting their patriotic sincerity to the prosperity and development of the homeland as befitting overseas citizens of the DPRK, and the world progressive women, international women's movement organizations and women’s organizations in different countries and regions greeting the March 8 International Women's Day on the road of achieving social emancipation, equality, anti-imperialist peace and democracy.

Vividly recorded in the annals of the Korean revolution are the strong faith and will and undying feats of the Korean women who have invariably followed the road of socialism, always sharing destiny with the country, he said.

He noted that the dignity and position of the Korean women are shining more brilliantly at the peak of respect and honour in the era of comprehensive national rejuvenation under the leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.

The respected Marshal Kim Jong Un advanced the idea that all the women should become genuine revolutionaries and ardent patriots with excellent spiritual and moral traits and ushered in a new heyday of the Juche-oriented women's movement, he said, adding:

It is the noble idea of our Marshal that only when women are pure ideologically and morally and sincere in their duties and responsibilities, will society be vibrant, the country be highly civilized and the future be guaranteed.

The happy laughter of the women, who are pleased to enjoy the benefits that reach all the families and children across the country along with the era of great change, is a beautiful picture of the large socialist family under the care of the respected Marshal.

The reporter stressed that the DPRK is safe and sound and its future will be rosy forever as the women revolutionaries and patriots loyal to the Party and the country reliably support the progress and development of society.
