An expedition of the 1 000-ri Journey for Learning consisting of schoolchildren from across the country who left Phophyong on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of President Kim Il Sung’s 1 000-ri Journey for Learning arrived in Kanggye on March 19.
They laid baskets of flowers and bouquets at the statues of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il in Kanggye City and made a bow.
They held a meeting at the Kanggye Post Office Revolutionary Site on March 20 to send a telegram informing Kim Jong Un of their arrival in Kanggye.
The meeting was attended by Kim Jang Won, secretary of the Jagang Provincial Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, Paek Hak Ryong, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League, other youth league officials and members of the expedition.
The telegram was read out at the meeting.
In the telegram the study tourists reported to the respected Marshal Kim Jong Un that they safely arrived in Kanggye by crossing high and rough passes after leaving Phophyong on the meaningful anniversary of the President’s departure for the 1 000-ri Journey for Learning.
They also expressed their resolution to speed up their march toward Mangyongdae more vigorously as they overcome all difficulties and troubles with strong will and collective spirit.
After the meeting the study tourists looked round the Kanggye Post Office and Kanggye Inn revolutionary sites and conducted various political and cultural activities including the schoolchildren’s artistic motivational team activity.
