Chinese FM warns AUKUS not to make Pacific a ‘stormy ocean’
June 10, 2023A spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry decried the nuclear submarine-related cooperation of AUKUS at a press conference on June 6.
He said that the cooperation creates a danger of nuclear proliferation and thwarts the effort of ASEAN member nations to turn Southeast Asia into a nuclear-free zone.
He emphasized that the US, the UK and Australia should lend an ear to the concern of the international community, give up nuclear proliferation including cooperation relating to nuclear-powered submarine and refrain from reducing the Pacific to a “stormy ocean”.
