Maria Zakharova, a spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, on May 17 expressed the stand to cope with the EU’s measure to oppress the mass media of Russia.

That day, the European Council decided to prohibit the activities of Russia’s four mass media organizations, including Ria-Novosti news agency and newspapers Izvestia and Rossiskaya Gazeta, inside the EU, claiming that Russia is conducting systematic propaganda offensives and information fabrication through mass media on an international scale.

The spokeswoman warned that Russia will cope with the EU’s measure for oppression and that the EU will be held entirely responsible for the aggravation of the situation to be caused by the measure.
