More than eight decades have passed since the cheers of hurrah for national liberation resounded throughout Korea.

The anti-Japanese revolutionary war veterans, who had fought for Korea’s liberation, shrinking the distance across steep ridges and deep valleys, in the prime of their life under the command of General Kim Il Sung during the arduous anti-Japanese armed struggle, already passed away.

August 15 1945 is the day when Korea was liberated from the military occupation by Japanese imperialism.

The national liberation was a historic victory which was achieved as a result of the anti-Japanese war waged through an all-people resistance with the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army (KPRA) as the hard core.

The Korean people were all eager to build a new society after achieving the historic cause of national liberation, but they were at a loss what to do next and which path they would follow.  

Thus how to adopt the line of building a new country emerged as a vital issue for them.
