Memorial meetings took place in Myanmar, Thailand, Pakistan, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Austria and Finland from July 5 to 7 on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the demise of President Kim Il Sung.

Speeches were made at the meetings attended by personages of political parties, parliaments, organizations and institutions, members of the Juche idea study organizations and organizations for friendship and solidarity with the Korean people.

A member of the Central Executive Committee of the Myanmar Journalist Association said that the world progressives still remember President Kim Il Sung, the elder statesman in the 20th century, as his exploits are so great.

A sea of farm machines has been spread on socialist fields.

There is a place called a “large chestnut valley” in Jokhyon-dong, Kangso District of Nampho City.

Large chestnut trees covering the entire valley are the fruit of untiring efforts made by Pak Yong, an old man who was head of a mountain workteam.

Nearly 30 years ago, Pak volunteered to work there after being demobilized as a colonel.

The Chongbaek juniper in Chongbaek-ri of Kumya County, South Hamgyong Province, was planted in around 1550. It is 10 metres tall and 5.4 metres round at the root collar. The crown is 18 metres wide from east to west and 21 metres wide from north to south. Three branches grow out from the main trunk at the height of 0.5 metre.

Shortly ago, a research group on climate change said that the whole world is suffering from a severe swelter.

The meteorological information agency of the European Union reported that the world average temperature from May last year to April this year rose by 1.61℃ over the period before the Industrial Revolution.

June of this year has been recorded as the hottest June in history.

The Copernican climate change service, the meteorological information agency of the European Union, recently announced that the global average temperature in last June was 16.66℃, hotter than all the previous same months.

The global mean temperature observed during 12 months until late June was also a record high, or 1.64℃ higher than that in the pre-Industrial Revolution period.

Going round different farms in Sukchon and Mundok counties of South Phyongan Province, the premier stressed the need to scientifically analyze the growth of rice and other crops, properly manure and tend them, actively apply advanced farming methods and techniques and take thorough measures to minimize the damage caused by disastrous abnormal weather such as flood and rainy wind.

He called for making full preparations for next year's farming on the basis of the experience gained in cultivating wheat and barley this year and for paying due attention to increasing the wheat processing capacity and techniques.

North Hamgyong Province is consistently implementing the childcare policy of the Workers' Party of Korea.

The province has ensured that over 250 rooms were provided with necessary equipment and facilities for producing dairy products and hundreds of tons of yoghurt were produced in a month just recently to supply the standard amount to children. It also produced scores of tons of more milk powder.

It directs efforts to improving the production lines and environment and checks the quality of dairy products in a responsible manner to send tasty and nutritious dairy products to children.
